IPOH – Perak Pakatan Harapan has not named any candidates for the post of menteri besar.

The state chapter’s three party leaders – DAP’s Nga Kor Ming, PKR’s Farhash Wafa Salvador Rizal Mubarak and Amanah’s Asmuni Awi – told a press conference after their audience with Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah today that they updated him on their parties’ stance.

“There are no candidates from PH,” said Farhash.

The trio did not disclose whether they are backing Umno’s menteri besar candidate.

Earlier, Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi presented his party’s candidate list to Sultan Nazrin.

He said Umno has more than the simple majority needed to form the state government.

Meanwhile, state PAS commissioner Razman Zakaria told online portal Free Malaysia Today that he has not received the green light from the party’s central leadership to back Umno’s choice for the menteri besar’s post.

Palace sources told The Vibes that Perak PAS has received instructions from the central leadership to request a withdrawal of its audience with the ruler.

Originally, the Islamist party’s reps were scheduled to meet Sultan Nazrin at 3pm, but following the withdrawal, the slot was filled by the PH leaders.

It is expected that Kota Tampan assemblyman Datuk Saarani Mohamad, who is also Perak Umno liaison committee chairman, will be the next menteri besar.

Pangkor assemblyman and former menteri besar Datuk Seri Zambry Abdul Kadir, as well as Saarani, have been summoned to Istana Kinta.

Although Saarani is the front-runner for the job, Zambry has been mentioned as another favourite.

However, sources close to him said he will not take office again.
