Cops looking for lawyer over alleged CBT involving RM497,000

MELAKA – State police are hunting down a lawyer, who is believed to have disappeared after cheating five victims in property deals involving RM497,000 in losses.

State Commercial Crime Investigation Department chief E. Sundra Rajan said the victims, aged between 50 and 70, had lodged reports for alleged breach of trust between December 4 and 6, after they realised they had been cheated by the man, known as Kingsley Wambeck.

He said the victims had appointed the 39-year-old lawyer to handle the sales and purchases of their properties.

“The victims also claimed that the money for their property sales, amounting RM350,000, and deposits for the purchases of property, amounting RM147,000, had been misused by the lawyer.

“They found that the lawyer’s company in Taman Megah, Bukit Beruang, had ceased operations and the suspect had gone missing,” he said in a statement here today.

Sundra Rajan said the case was being investigated under Section 409 of the Penal Code for criminal breach of trust.

He urged the public who know the suspect or have any information to contact investigating officers Mohd Yassar Ishak at 017-680 6680, Izrayasrina Mohamad Saad (012-6773402) or Koet Pei Ing (016- 4121209). – Bernama, December 8, 2020
