JOHOR BARU – Human Resources Minister V. Sivakumar has ordered his ministry to contact Foodpanda over allegations that the food delivery service had denied compensation to one of its riders.

Taking to Twitter, the Batu Gajah MP has asked Foodpanda to investigate and solve the matter swiftly.

On April 8, a video was uploaded on TikTok by user @saifulxander_, whereby a Foodpanda rider claimed that he has not received full payment for the deliveries he has performed.

The rider claimed that he was supposed to receive RM800. However, he was denied RM300 and received RM500 instead.

According to the rider, this was because of cancelled orders, which he said is untrue.

As a result, he also said that his account with Foodpanda was suspended, which means he is no longer able to perform deliveries.

The rider claimed that RM300 is a “large sum of money” that he can use to make necessary payments, given that the Hari Raya Aidilfitri holidays are close.

He added that he had just recovered from stage three cancer.

At the time of writing, the video has 77,400 likes on TikTok along with over 10,000 comments.

On Twitter, several netizens managed to obtain the rider’s bank account details and proceeded to donate funds.

Based on the tweets, it is believed the rider is an individual who goes by the name of Muhd Saifuddin Mustofa. The Vibes has reached out to the rider to elaborate on his situation.

When contacted, Foodpanda Malaysia Sdn Bhd told The Vibes that the company was looking into the matter.

“Foodpanda Malaysia has been made aware of the allegations, and we have taken steps to reach out to the rider for more information,” a spokesman said.

Meanwhile, another video was uploaded to the user’s TikTok account showing the rider meeting with Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, but did not state whether the visit was related to his alleged ordeal with Foodpanda. – The Vibes, April 12, 2023
