Woman allegedly gang-raped, 6 nabbed

JOHOR BARU – A woman is believed to have been gang-raped by six men, one of whom she befriended through the WeChat application, at a house in Taman Muhibbah Saleng, near Kulai, on Sunday.

Kulai police chief Tok Beng  Yeow said the 29-year-old victim went out with one of the men at 6pm before being taken to a house and gang-raped by all the suspects.

He said the victim called police at 5.55am the following day to inform them about the incident.

On Monday, a team from Kulai police headquarters arrested the six suspects at the house and the Kulai Bus Terminal vicinity between 8.50am and 1.50pm.

“The investigation found that the victim was raped in turns by all the suspects in the house.

“A forensic team from the state police contingent headquarters was also present to assist in the investigation, which found that the victim befriended one of the suspects through the WeChat application last month,” Tok said in a statement today.

He said the suspects, aged between 18 and 25, tested negative for drugs, adding that they have been remanded until December 13.

The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code. – Bernama, December 8, 2020
