KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has delivered a heartfelt message of unity in a video message celebrating the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.

Urging the rakyat to come together to strengthen national unity, Anwar said that trials and tribulations faced during Ramadan, when Muslims are required to fast and abstain from certain deeds, should be taken as a lesson towards betterment.

“Let us strengthen our resolve as Malaysians to build up and save our country.

“Beginning with cleansing our soul throughout Ramadan and upholding the dignity of our society, let us continue to work towards uniting our nation as one,” he said in the video posted on social media today.

The video, produced by the Prime Minister’s Office and RTM, depicts a stall called Lemang Mad Thani, which provides its customers of all races with lemang, a customary Aidilfitri dish.

The delicacy is made from glutinous rice, coconut milk, and salt, which is then cooked over high heat in a hollowed bamboo tube usually coated with banana leaves to prevent the rice from sticking to the bamboo.

In the video, which shows Anwar visiting the stall, the narrator highlights the sacrifice endured by the bamboo tube which is burned for patrons to enjoy the offerings inside of it. – The Vibes, April 19, 2023
