PUTRAJAYA – Academy Award winner Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, who recently made history by bagging an Oscar during the ceremony in Los Angeles, recently paid a visit to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at his office here today.

Sharing the meet on Facebook, Anwar said they spoke about the Ipoh-born actress’ journey in life, and how her award was significant for her family and fellow Malaysians.

“Today, (I) received a visit from the cultural figure and artiste Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, who recently won the best actress award at the 95th Academy Awards,” he said.

“She recalled the joys and sorrows of her life’s journey, especially to reach her level of success today.

“She also left a message that the Oscar success was meaningful to her, her family, and Malaysians as a whole,” he added.

Anwar said that Yeoh’s achievement had uplifted Malaysia’s name on the international stage, and wished her continuous success.

In the post, Anwar shared images of the two engaging in a light-hearted conversation with Yeoh’s Oscar statuette placed between them.

Yeoh received the Best Actress award for her lead role in the film Everything Everywhere All At Once, making her the first victor of Asian descent in that category, and the first Malaysian to earn an Oscar.

Following her award, Anwar had congratulated Yeoh on her achievement, saying that she had made history and the nation took enormous pride in it. – The Vibes, April 20, 2023
