KUALA LUMPUR – Two checkpoints in Johor are seeing heavy traffic inbound from Singapore this morning.

According to the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA), slow traffic is reported at the Sultan Iskandar Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) complex as of 10.09am, and the Sultan Abu Bakar CIQ complex as of 9.02am.

Meanwhile, the MHA tweeted that major highways, such as the Sg Besi expressway, leading in and out of the Klang Valley, are seeing smooth traffic this morning as Malaysians embrace another long break.

Anih Bhd, the concessionaire of the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Expressway and the East Coast Expressway Phase 1, reported smooth traffic on both directions as of 10am.

PLUS Malaysia Bhd, which operates the North-South Expressway, reported an accident at KM425.1 southbound from Bukit Tagar to Bukit Beruntung, resulting in the closure of the left lane as of 7.24am.

By 8.31am, the lane had been cleared of obstruction.

Malaysians will be enjoying public holidays on May 1 (Labour Day) and May 4 (Wesak Day).

Previously, Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi said five short-term measures were being planned to ease congestion at the CIQ complex in Johor. – The Vibes, April 30, 2023
