KANGAR – Perlis recorded zero hard-core poor when average household income in the state exceeded the poverty line income (PGK) of RM888 per month this year.

State Tourism, Culture, Arts and Heritage Committee chairman Asmaiza Ahmad said the number of Perlis folk listed as living under the poverty line has been on the decline.

“According to the records, in 2016, a total of 16,524 households were listed under the poverty line and this year, 12,841 households moved out of the poverty threshold,” she said at the State Legislative Assembly sitting here today.

Asmaiza (BN-Chuping) said this in her reply to a question from Gan Ay Ling (PKR-Indera Kayangan) on the statistics of those registered as poor and hard-core poor in the state's e-Kasih system.

She said currently, 3,683 households still live below the PGK. – Bernama, December 9, 2020
