Despite RoS’ delays, Muda determined to get registered

KUALA LUMPUR – Baffled by the delay from the Registrar of Societies (RoS) regarding their party’s registration, the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) will nevertheless continue its pursuit to get itself validated despite rumours of possible sabotage.

“The RoS has not given us a reason as to why we aren’t yet registered. In fact, we have heard rumours saying there are some hidden hands trying to stop us,” Amir Abdul Hadi, co-founder of Muda told The Vibes.

When asked why there would be elements of sabotage with regards to the party’s registration, Amir explained that it is possible there are people out there who view Muda as a threat.

Nevertheless, Muda will refrain from relenting and pursue its goal to get registered as a political party.

“We are still discussing all possibilities. Maybe we will try to set an appointment with the RoS chief or any of their officers,” Amir explained.

Asked if Muda is willing to resort to the judiciary if they exhaust all avenues for registration, Amir answered in the affirmative.

“Elections may be coming soon, in fact, it may be somewhere next year. So we need our party registered soon,” he said.

Additionally, Amir explained that the party must be registered to set up a bank account, and they have 30,000 individuals who are keen to join their party.

Last week, Muda stated in a press release that the RoS has delayed the registration of their party saying that they have complied with all requirements.

They pointed out that if the RoS can speedily register the Perikatan Nasional coalition, Muda should at least receive the same.  – The Vibes, December 10, 2020
