MALAYSIA ranked second among five Southeast Asian countries for fixed internet streaming performance from January to September, recording an 80.87 per cent index and trailing only Singapore, according to independent internet measurement platform nPerf.

Singapore topped the ranking with an 84.70 per cent streaming index, while Malaysia outperformed Thailand and Vietnam, which recorded 80.48 per cent and 80.40 per cent respectively.

Malaysia’s score was also nearly seven percentage points higher than Indonesia’s 74.08 per cent, nPerf said in a statement on Monday.

“Malaysia has outperformed Thailand and Vietnam, confirming the quality of video streaming that is close to the highest standards in the region.

“The difference between the countries remains significant, with Malaysia recording a streaming index nearly seven points higher than Indonesia, which recorded 74.08 per cent,” nPerf said.

The platform said the performance translated into a smoother user experience, particularly when streaming high-definition (HD) video content.

It also reflected the quality of Malaysia’s fixed internet networks amid growing demand for streaming services. - September 14, 2026
