SHAH ALAM – The sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah wants the state government to work hard towards helping those severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic.
The sultan, in a statement via Istana Selangor’s official Facebook page, said he is concerned with the welfare of his people and always monitors problems facing them.
“I feel their suffering and want the well-being and prosperity of my people to be safeguarded,” he said.
Sultan Sharafuddin hopes the people can continue to be patient and remain calm in facing these challenges, and says he will pray for the situation to return to normal.
He shared his appreciation for doctors, nurses, hospital staff and frontliners who have been fighting tirelessly against Covid-19.
“I appreciate all your sacrifices and pray that Allah will take care of the health of front-line workers so they can continue with their duties and efforts.
“To recognise the services and sacrifices of those who have died in the line of duty, I will dedicate state awards and medals to them,” he added.
The sultan also expressed his gratitude to Allah for being able to celebrate his 75th birthday tomorrow, adding: “With the country facing Covid-19, I have decided not to hold a birthday celebration ceremony this year.
“However, depending on the situation, the investiture ceremony will be held on a date to be confirmed.”
Sultan Sharafuddin reminds the people of Selangor to continue with their daily lives and comply to prescribed standard operating procedures.
“I hope the risk of Covid-19 infections can be reduced and soon eliminated in our country,” he added. – Bernama, December 10, 2020
