JOHOR Pejuang Information Chief Suraya Sulaiman has been announced as the party's sole candidate to contest under the Perikatan Nasional (PN) ticket in the upcoming Johor State Election (PRN).

Pejuang President Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said the Pejuangnita Malaysia Exco will contest in the Gambir State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

"This is the only seat we are contesting in Johor and nothing more. We feel that by partnering with component parties in PN, our chances of winning are bright," he said.

He said this during a live stream of the announcement of the PN candidate for the Gambir DUN on Facebook.

As of Thursday night, PN had announced candidates for 33 of the 56 DUN seats contested in the Johor PRN.

Of the total, PAS is contesting 11 seats, Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) 16 seats, Parti Rakyat India Malaysia (MIPP) with five seats, while Pejuang is contesting one seat under the PN umbrella.

The announcement of the candidates was made in four separate events yesterday.

Meanwhile, Mukhriz informed that Suraya is a local candidate and a political leader who is active in non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

According to him, the businessperson in the health and beauty sector has experience in empowering women, youth and family communities through various corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes, in addition to being active in political advocacy and grassroots leadership.

"I think there is no problem in fielding a female candidate because on the issue of the rising cost of living, this group understands the situation better.

"So without hesitation, I endorse Suraya to fight for the issue," he said. – June 26, 2026
