KANGAR – The Perlis Legislative Assembly today unanimously passed the state’s budget for next year.
The Supply Enactment Bill (Budget 2021), involving an allocation of RM108.17 million, was debated on for three days.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man, who tabled the budget on Tuesday, said it is the first time in the state’s history that a budget received unanimous approval.
“It is quite a challenge to prepare a budget when the deficit has increased significantly due to the impact of Covid-19.
“The expansionary RM67.52 million deficit is to give the best to the people, and aimed at achieving the goal of becoming a city state by 2030,” he said when winding up the debate on the bill.
Azlan (BN-Bintong) said the spending plan outlines four thrusts, namely the implementation of development projects, the people’s welfare, a harmonious society, and an effective administration.
He added that the state is committed to producing more successful entrepreneurs.
The state assembly sitting has been adjourned to a date to be fixed later. – Bernama, December 10, 2020
