Malaysia breaches 80,000 mark with 1,810 new Covid-19 cases

PUTRAJAYA – Malaysia today breached a total of 80,309 Covid-19 cases after notching 1,810 new cases, according to Health Ministry statistics.

The country also saw six new deaths; five from Sabah and one from Penang.

This brings the total cumulative death toll to 402 cases.

Recoveries as of 6pm today are at 937 cases while active cases stand at 12,734.

A total of 123 cases are under intensive care while 63 require ventilators.

Selangor registered the highest number of infections at 829 cases, followed by Sabah (532), Kuala Lumpur (132), Pahang (96) Johor (69) and Negri Sembilan (64).

Penang registered 34 cases followed by Kedah (22), and Perak (12).

States to record single-digit cases are Labuan (8), and Melaka (5), while Putrajaya, Kelantan and Terengganu all recorded only two cases each.

Perlis was the only state to not have recorded any Covid-19 cases.

The ministry said until December 11, a total of 407 clusters have been detected, including the six new ones reported today. It said 217 clusters have ended, including three today. Active clusters were at 190, of which 48 reported new cases today.

The clusters with the highest number of cases today are the Sg Putus (369), Rumah Merah (150), and D’Bajaru (133) clusters. – The Vibes, December 11, 2020
