GEORGE TOWN – DAP has lambasted former Petaling Jaya MP Tony Pua’s alleged attacks on the unity government, saying that such actions are uncalled for.

Party secretary-general Anthony Loke stressed that Pua “no longer holds any position in the party” and that in this context, the latter’s views do not represent those of DAP.

“He was merely speaking in his personal capacity,” Loke said in a statement.

DAP’s highest body made a policy decision to cooperate with other political parties to ensure the country’s stability, he highlighted.

Hence, any provocative remarks towards the unity set-up is not in line with the party’s policy, Loke said.

He reminded all DAP leaders to be mindful when they speak on the party’s platform.

“We need to safeguard harmony and our relations within the national unity framework,” Loke said.

Pua’s remarks emerged when he was speaking at the Petaling Jaya DAP rally recently.

His comments have gone viral on social media, prompting reactions and question marks.

Once a blue-eyed boy of DAP, Pua’s journey in the party saw his spectacular rise in politics, having once been an adviser to Lim Guan Eng when the latter served as finance minister. – The Vibes, June 24, 2023
