BANGI – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has challenged Perikatan Nasional (PN) to move a motion of no confidence against him.
“If you are confident with your numbers since you have the biggest (block of votes) then write to the speaker and move a motion of no confidence against me,” Anwar said at a talk here last night.
He said PN is frothing at the mouth with constant talk of taking over the government.
“If you are short of time, I can give you three days. Write to the speaker,” he said.
He said PN is worried about the arduous task ahead of the August 12 elections in six states as it is facing an unprecedented opponent in the unity coalition.
“This is a new dawn of national politics with the partnership of two of the nation’s premier political parties – Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).
“Along with GRS in Sarawak and GPS in Sabah, we will save the nation from corruption and abuse of power.”
Anwar was speaking at the launch of the unity coalition’s election machinery for Selangor.
Among those present were caretaker menteri besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, and Tourism, and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sin.
Anwar said both PH and BN had a proven track record of administering Selangor.
“Would it not benefit the rakyat that they get the best of both administrations in Selangor?”
He said it is crucial for the unity government to continue to administer the country and believes Selangor will set the standard for a new type of politics in the country.
“Selangor voters have proven they are politically mature,” Anwar said, emphasising that the constitutional makeup of the multi-racial country must be protected from those who wish to play divisive racial politics. – The Vibes, July 8, 2023
