KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim paid tribute to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, who died tonight while warded.

In a message on Facebook, Anwar said he is deeply affected by Salahuddin’s death, which followed an emergency surgery yesterday for a brain haemorrhage.

“His death is a big loss for me and my family.

“Salahuddin was a brother who firmly stood with me in this long struggle. His service and kindness can never be repaid materially.

“He was of noble character, whether with friends or opponents. He was a strong fighter who was faithful to the tasks and responsibilities given him.

“Rest well, my friend,” said Anwar, who is currently attending a Jelajah Madani and election machinery launch event in Kelantan tonight.

Salahuddin, 62, died at 9.23pm tonight at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star, Kedah, where he had been in the intensive care unit, following surgery yesterday.

Meanwhile, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said tonight that Salahuddin’s remains will be sent from Alor Star to Johor Baru on a specially chartered Malaysia Airlines flight at 1am.

Salahuddin’s remains are to be taken to his mother’s house in Kg Serkat (Kopi Tenggek), Tg Piai, Johor. – The Vibes, July 23, 2023
