PETALING JAYA – Prominent activist and lawyer Haris Ibrahim died at noon today at his brother’s house in Taman Tun Dr Ismail.

Haris, 63, had moved in with his brother, Adam, after being diagnosed with end-stage lung cancer.

“He passed away peacefully,” said Firoza Burhan, his sister-in-law.

Haris was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer last April and doctors said he had about six months to live.

Despite his illness, he attended the “Walk for Judicial Independence" organised by the Malaysian Bar last June.

He arrived at the venue in Kuala Lumpur in a wheelchair.
