KUALA LUMPUR – Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has voiced his aspiration for all parties to respect the decision of the voters as the state elections come to an end tonight.

The prime minister said it is important to maintain peace and to strive to uplift the nation, underscoring that those who are discontent with the election outcomes should follow the proper legal channels to address their concerns.

“In a democratic system, it is imperative to uphold the people’s decision. Respect, in this context, means being prepared to embrace the decision with sincerity.”

“If there are any concerns, matters of legality, or dissatisfaction, they should be addressed in accordance with the law and regulations set forth by the Election Commission,” he said during a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre here tonight.

Also in attendance were Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Amanah president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu, as well as other political leaders in the Pakatan Harapan and BN blocs.

Anwar also extended his congratulations to all winners, including those from the opposition camp, while acknowledging that the election victories had come from the dedication and hard work of all those involved.

He also went on to stress the importance of fostering strong relationships, preserving peace and maintaining the nation’s dignity following the state elections.

“As we move into Monday, the federal unity government will redouble its efforts to propel Malaysia towards achievements that everyone can take pride in,” he affirmed. – The Vibes, August 13, 2023
