PETALING JAYA – What was possibly a biker exercising a little bit of civic awareness ended with him being involved in an accident.

On Facebook, a road user who encountered the shocking scene while driving along Jalan Syed Putra in Kuala Lumpur shared what happened.

The accident was also captured by her dashcam, footage from which she uploaded along with her post.

Huey Tze Lai said she mulled over sharing the incident and eventually decided to do so as she wanted to raise awareness of the importance of installing dashcams.

While driving, she noticed a biker in front of her gesturing to a silver car on his left, which was using the bus lane. It appeared as though the biker was berating the car for using the bus lane.

The driver of the silver car then accelerated forward and abruptly switched to the right lane, right in front of the biker.

The biker was not able to brake in time. He crashed into the back of the car, falling off his bike and ending up on the road. The driver of the silver car sped off.

Huey said she was shocked but stopped her car and got out to help the biker. She said some passersby thought she was the one who hit the biker, but an uncle who stopped told her she was a witness and it was not her fault.

Huey remarked that she was not afraid as she had her dashcam footage as proof.

In her post, she said she took the biker’s number and shared the footage with him for further action. The biker informed her that he broke his leg and was still hospitalised.

The video, which was uploaded yesterday, has amassed over 80,000 views. – The Vibes, August 22, 2023
