KUALA LUMPUR – TV3 newscaster Raymond Goh died this morning after suffering from a stroke and having been admitted to a hospital on August 30.
His passing was confirmed by his wife Faridah Teh in a statement to Buletin TV3.
Goh, whose Muslim name was Muhammad Zaman Goh Abdullah, passed away at 10.43am.
It is understood that funeral prayers will take place at the At-Taqwa Mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail here after which he will be laid to rest at the Bukit Kiara Muslim cemetery.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim conveyed condolences to the Goh family and prayed for them to remain strong in facing this moment of grief.
“He will be sorely missed by the entire broadcast fraternity and of course, his deeds and contributions will always be remembered. Al-Fatihah,” Anwar posted on Facebook.
Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil also expressed his condolences to Goh's family. In his Facebook post, he prayed for the family to remain strong during this trying time.
About a week ago, rumours had been swirling that the veteran newscaster had succumbed to his illness.
His family at the time issued a statement denying the rumour, saying he was still being treated at the hospital.
Since news of Goh suffering a stroke made headlines, there has been an outpouring of well wishes and concern from many, including Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
With over thirty years of experience in the broadcasting industry, Goh has had an impact on many and this was evident in many social media shares.
“The family understands that Goh's well-being has been of concern for many and deeply appreciate the outpouring of love and support,” Faridah was quoted as saying in an earlier statement when her husband was hospitalised. – The Vibes, September 12, 2023
