KUALA LUMPUR – Syed Saddiq Abdul Rahman took a swipe at the unity government today, claiming it is “Nato” – no action, talk only – regarding reforms.
The Muar MP claimed there are many promises of reforms that have yet to be fulfilled, including the separation of powers between the attorney-general and public prosecutor.
“What about the promise of equal funding for government and opposition lawmakers?
“The prime minister agreed to this in March, but until today, it is still zero for opposition lawmakers.
“Government lawmakers get between RM3.8 million to RM4.5 million for their constituencies,” he told a press conference at Parliament today.
In the long run, it is the people who are punished for their political choices, Syed Saddiq added.
He also said that cabinet ministers were supposed to declare their assets, but since the pledge was made, about eight months ago, no one has done so.
“The prime minister also said high-profile corruption cases would not be dropped, but this is not the case now.
