Under attack – but not silenced
The Vibes and Getaran will continue reporting the news and addressing the issues that matter. - September 2, 2026

by The Vibes Says

EARLIER today, TheVibes.com and Getaran.my came under an external technical attack that took both our news sites offline for several hours.

We are investigating the source and nature of the attack. But there is something worth reflecting upon.

In a media landscape where ownership, political affiliation and financial influence can sometimes shape the news, The Vibes and Getaran remain fiercely independent.

We are not owned by, affiliated with, or beholden to any political party.

We do not receive funding from any government department or agency. Nobody tells us what we can write, what we cannot write, whom we should criticise, or whom we should protect.

That independence matters.

And perhaps the fact that someone believed it worthwhile to attack our platforms tells us something too: people are reading, people are listening, and what we publish matters.

We will not speculate about who was responsible or why. That will be investigated.

But if the intention was to intimidate us, the result will be precisely the opposite.

The Vibes and Getaran will continue reporting the news and addressing the issues that matter.

We will continue publishing opinion pieces that provoke debate — without fear or favour.

We will get things right. Sometimes we may get things wrong, and when we do, we will correct them.

But we will never allow intimidation, political pressure or vested interests to determine what our readers are allowed to know.

You brought the sites down for a few hours.

You did not — and will not — silence us. In fact, we are now more determined to give the people authentic news and opinions. However uncomfortable they make politicians or economic leaders feel. – September 2, 2026
