“TREAT yourself! You deserve it!” – is what we more often than not tell ourselves even though our bank accounts would probably not agree.

Sitting in the adult bracket, we cannot think of an instant where we look at ourselves in the mirror and say, “Welp – we’ve done it. We’re grown-ups now.”

Why? Because there is no magic line you cross. Adulthood represents overcoming your younger shortcomings and fitting the mould of your ideal self. But you can never fully fit that mould, because each year you realise how little you knew before. How does one even spend money wisely?

Now that you are an adult, things are not what they seem anymore. You no longer have a green pass to call your mama whenever you fall short on your finances.

In this week’s episode of Projek Adulting, Sara and Ryan speak to special guests Isabelle Leong who shares her (attempts at) responsible fiscal habits and Datuk Zainul Ariffin who reflects on how his own needs and wants have drastically changed over the years.

As a full-fledged adult, he also gives us some much-needed financial advice – like how to stretch our paychecks.

So, is coffee really worth it? We find out. – The Vibes, June 16, 2022

Projek Adulting is presented by Sara Mack Lubis and Ryan Lam
