THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) will submit a formal appeal to the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) regarding the disciplinary decision involving the eligibility documentation of seven national players, after receiving the full judgment documents from the world football governing body.
In a statement today, FAM stressed that all documents and supporting evidence related to the issue are complete and ready to be submitted to FIFA through the established legal channels.
FAM also takes seriously several of the conclusions contained in the decision, particularly the claim that the players involved “obtained forged documents” or deliberately attempted to evade eligibility rules.
“FAM stresses that no evidence to support this claim has been presented by FIFA,” the statement read.
“All documentation and submissions relating to the players’ eligibility have been prepared, verified, and fully managed by FAM in accordance with the established procedures.
“At all times, the players acted in good faith and relied entirely on the verification and registration process conducted by FAM,” the statement explained.
FAM described the portrayal of the issue as inaccurate and unfair, and the matter will be raised comprehensively in the official appeal process.
The association also stressed its commitment to defending the interests of national football and the rights of the players, in addition to ensuring that the appeal process runs transparently and in accordance with the rules.
At the same time, FAM explained that this case also involves official information regarding government procedures for the issuance and verification of passports, which is subject to the Official Secrets Act 1972 and the Passport Act 1966.
“In this regard, FAM is legally bound to maintain confidentiality of these elements and will only share the relevant information with FIFA for the purpose of this case,” the statement added. – October 7, 2025
