THE Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) has formally lodged a police report at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters amid allegations of document forgery involving seven heritage players of the Harimau Malaya national football team.
Acting President Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi said the move aligns with recommendations from the Independent Investigation Committee (IIC), chaired by former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif, which recently concluded its investigative report.
“FAM today has lodged a police report at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters regarding the alleged document forgery involving seven Harimau Malaya heritage players. This action is in line with the recommendations of the IIC, chaired by former Chief Justice Tun Md Raus Sharif, following the committee’s recent investigation,” Mohd Yusoff said.
He emphasised that the association remains fully committed to cooperating with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and respecting the legal process. “FAM is committed to fully cooperating with PDRM and to respecting the ongoing legal process,” he added.
Mohd Yusoff described the police report as a demonstration of FAM’s dedication to integrity, transparency, and governance reform in protecting the interests of Malaysian football.
“This step reflects FAM’s commitment to integrity, transparency, and governance reforms in safeguarding the interests of national football,” he said.
The Acting President was accompanied by FAM Vice-President and Legal Committee Chairman Datuk Saaran Nadarajah, as well as Vice-President and Media Committee Chairman Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin, during the filing of the report.
The move follows FAM’s earlier announcement on Monday of its intention to submit a police report concerning the allegations, following advice from the IIC. Mohd Yusoff explained that the report enables the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into claims that documents submitted to the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) were falsified.
“The investigation needs to be conducted to determine how this forgery occurred and to identify those responsible for the matter,” he said, underscoring the association’s commitment to accountability and the protection of Malaysian football’s credibility. - December 24, 2025
