ONE of the major positives of Covid-19 outbreak is that it gave us time to reflect on our individual careers. Unfortunately, all the industries that I am associated with – events, sports, and education – came to a complete standstill in March.

I kept asking myself, “What on earth do I do? How do I put food on the table for my family?”

Complaining and feeling sorry for myself was the easy choice. Instead, I chose to put together my own digital sports and business show called Sunday Learnings With Ben. This new online programme interviews successful people about their careers and leadership styles.

My first episode was with three Asean Basketball League (ABL) championship coaches – Jimmy Alapag from Alab Pilipinas, Brian Rowsom who coached Indonesia’s CLS Knights in 2019, and Ariel Vanguardia who guided the Kuala Lumpur Dragons to their first championship back in season 2015/2016. The topic was how constant reflection made them better teachers of the game.

My key questions to the panel were mainly around innovation, building mental toughness, and the best way to handle pressure.

Don’t worry’ I am not going to give you thesis answers. Instead, I have broken my episode down into key three short video segments #MentalToughness, #HandlingPressure and #Innovation.
