HAVE you ever watched this B-grade movie in the 80s entitled ‘Mac and Me’? If you haven’t, it’s about a little boy and his alien bestie, Mac, a cute toyol-ish creature with a potbelly.
Well, that is exactly what I look like after I overeat; if you ask me, it’s not really a pleasant sight. There are times when I poke fun at myself and pretend that I’m three-months pregnant after binging on nasi padang.
I swear the number of times I’ve stood in front of a mirror and sucked in my belly to take a selfie shot for a nice Instagram story post is not funny in the least; if you could hear me, it would sound like a cross between Bretman Rock and Fraggle Rock. On these unflattering days, I tend to hide all my crop tops in the back of the drawer.
You must be wondering how do I overcome days like these? Well, I perform yoga poses that help me lose belly fat.
A hectic lifestyle, unfavourable eating habits, and a lack of sleep are strong factors which contribute to my cute Mac-like flabby tummy. At times, my core feels so weak that my poses start to become flimsy. This lack of abdominal strength causes my back to hurt, especially in the lower region.
When I want to continue eating my nasi kandar and Big Macs, I found that the following poses can be very helpful; just don’t do it right after you have them though:
Yoga Asanas To Reduce Belly Fat
• Paschimottanasana (Seated Forward Fold)
• Marjariasana (Cow Cat Pose)
• Ustrasana (Camel Pose)
• Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose)
