HI, EVERYONE! For this installment, I would like to share some personal tips on how to add some panache to your dance.

Although anyone can learn how to pole dance, what will set you apart is that little extra spice you add to make a move go from basic to ooh-la-la!
Focus on your demi-pointe; for me, this was the game-changer. Demi pointe conditioning is when you basically curve and actively press your feet to arch until they curl into half-moon crescents while you engage your calves ─ I work on mine while I’m watching TV!

The overall effect of demi-pointe (whether in heels or not) works to maximise your length and extensions while making your moves look neat and tight!
Another point to note is to engage your core throughout the entire dance, even when you’re grounded. This just makes you look more graceful and less ‘heavy’. This means you need to control your descent, instead of relaxing your muscle engagement and plopping down onto the floor. Over time, this will also help you build strength.

Add head rolls or hair flicks to accentuate your style. Practise doing this with back isolations instead of just using your neck. The effect is dramatic when you put your back into it! - Courtesy of Bobbi’s Pole Studio Malaysia

Lunge like you mean it. Although either way is correct, let me show you the one that makes you look more flexible! - Courtesy of Bobbi’s Pole Studio Malaysia

Fret not if you haven’t mastered your splits. Learn to fake it if you can’t make it by sitting on one butt cheek, spreading the other leg as wide as possible and arching your back! - Courtesy of Bobbi’s Pole Studio Malaysia
