KUALA LUMPUR – National hockey manager Datuk Mirnawan Nawawi did not have to go through self-isolation as he was not involved in the meeting at National Sports Institute yesterday.
It is believed that head coach Arul Selvaraj and other coaches – Mohd Amin Rahim and Wallace Tan have been under self-isolation after being in contact with a person under investigation (PUI).
“I did not attend the meeting yesterday. “I heard that the ISN officer who was under PUI was tested negative for Covid-19 today, so everything is okay now. Arul, Amin and Wallace can return to training after their 3-day self-isolation,” Mirnawan told The Vibes when contacted.
The NSI officer who is a dietician with the sports body, underwent a swab test after his housemate tested positive.
Mirnawan opted to not stay with the team at the NSC because he wanted to give priority to the athletes who need to stay in the quarantine bubble.
“NSC is not only accommodating the national hockey teams but also other athletes who are under the podium programme. I am just the manager of the national team and it does not matter from where I manage.
“I will only go to the National hockey stadium during the training sessions but I only observe the team from far as there are SOPs that I need to follow. I don’t get involved in the team discussions as Arul and the other coaches take care of things during the CMCO,” he said.
Mirnawan hopes the CMCO will end soon so things can go back to normal and he can fully involve himself with the team during training sessions. – The Vibes, October 19, 2020
