KUALA LUMPUR – Former national player Yusri Che Lah has resigned as the FAM-NSC Project Squad head coach.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Mohd Saifuddin Abu Bakar said in a statement today that Yusri had resigned after getting another offer to continue his coaching career next season.

Mohd Saifuddin said that although the 45-year-old’s contract still had another year to run, FAM and Yusri reached a mutual agreement to terminate his deal to coach the Project Squad, which was set up last December.

He said that FAM and the National Sports Council (NSC) would interview several candidates soon to fill the vacancy ahead of next season’s Premier League campaign.

“FAM thank Yusri for his services throughout the season in handling the squad in the recently-ended Premier League campaign and we wish him all the best in his new career,” he added.The Project Squad finished last in the Premier League this season with just one win, three draws and 16 losses. – Bernama, December 10, 2021
