JASIN − The Melaka United Football Association will find the best way to address salary arrears of the team’s players at its 66th Annual Congress on January 16, said its president Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali.

“Wait for the congress, we will discuss about this problem,” Sulaiman, who is also Melaka chief minister, told reporters after officiating the Bemban Maju Jaya Seminar 2022 here today.

Yesterday, a screenshot of a conversation via the Whatsapp application between Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim − who is also patron of the Professional Footballers Association of Malaysia − and Sulaiman went viral on social media.

In it, Tunku Ismail reprimanded and advised Sulaiman to take immediate note of the issue that is plaguing the Mousedeer squad.

Meanwhile, the management of the Melaka United Football Club (MUFC) also gave an assurance that the issue of salary arrears of players and team officials for the 2021 season will be resolved soon.

In a statement, it said the matter would be resolved as soon as possible as the club was now in the final process of restructuring in terms of its administration and finances.

“The club’s management gives an assurance to resolve all arrears in the near future to ensure MUFC’s planning for 2022 runs smoothly,” the statement read. – Bernama, January 13, 2022
