KUALA LUMPUR – Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu today met former national shuttler Lee Zii Jia in an effort to amicably resolve the player’s current spat with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).

However, an insider from the ministry told The Vibes that it is a closed-door meeting and Faizal will meet BAM tomorrow to get a better understanding of the situation.

“It was a cordial meet up where Zii Jia explained to me the whole situation from his point of view. The situation is quite complicated but not imposibble to settle.

“From our conversation, I believe that his motivation and dedication towards badminton is still strong.

“After my conversation with Zii Jia, I beleive that this situation will be resolved soon.

“As long as we are all on the same page when it comes to national interest, we can move forward as one,” he told The Vibes when contacted.

Earlier, BAM confirmed that Zii Jia has submitted his appeal towards the two-year ban. However, there were no updates on former national women shuttler Goh Jin Wei. – The Vibes, January 24, 2022
