KUALA LUMPUR − Paul Revington has quit as Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) technical development and special project squad director a year before his contract was due to expire.
This is following the South African’s appointment as England and Great Britain men’s teams’ head coach, as announced by Great Britain Hockey via a statement today.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working with the MHC and would like to thank everyone there for their hard work, support and generosity.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for me and it is now the task of our coaching team to follow in the footsteps of several outstanding head coaches and lead another talented group of athletes on an action-packed journey of continual improvement, hard work and inspiring a nation through consistent elite performance,” Revington said in the statement.
Revington − a former International Hockey Federation (FIH) World Coach of the Year − had previously served as the national men’s team head coach from 2012-2014, apart from being the head coach of the Great Britain women’s Elite Development Programme and then assistant coach of the England and Great Britain senior women’s teams.
Revington then returned to Malaysia in October 2020 − signing a three-year contract. – Bernama, April 20, 2022
