KUALA LUMPUR – Anak Rimau The Movie, a film that zooms in on the elements of unity and nationalism among Malaysia’s various races, is able to foster the spirit of patriotism ahead of the upcoming National Day celebrations, said Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker.

He said the film, which revolves around football, played by various races, carries the message that every individual must strive to fight without giving up if they want to taste success.

“I would like to congratulate the cast and crew of Anak Rimau for their extraordinary effort in showcasing one of the factors that unite us and have lifted our spirits in this country, which is football.

“Our mission at the Youth and Sports Ministry is to form a more prosperous and united Malaysia through youth development and sports culture, and the story of Anak Rimau The Movie is a perfect example of what we aim for in this country,” he told reporters after an exclusive screening of the movie at the Dadi cinema in the Pavillion mall, today.

The film was produced as a joint venture by the National Sports Council (NSC), the National Football Development Programme, Mokhtar Dahari Academy (MDA) and the Youth and Sports Ministry.

The film, produced by Keeklr Films Sdn Bhd, features a line-up of famous actors – Beto Kusyairy, Azhan Abdul Rani and Adam Corrie – and highlights the spirit and struggle of the new generation in pursuing their dreams as football players.

Also present at the film screening were Pahang royals Tengku Arif Temenggong Tengku Fahd Mu’adzam Ahmad Shah and Tengku Arif Bendahara Tengku Muhammad Iskandar Ri’ayatuddin Shah, as well as NSC director-general Datuk Ahmad Shapawi Ismail.

Meanwhile, national football legend Datuk Dollah Salleh said the participation of MDA’s young players in the film could attract more youth to take up football.

“It will do a lot of good for our young people. This movie can inspire many more young people to participate in the football league.

“This movie seems to suggest that football can keep the young people all pumped up and provide a future,” he said. – Bernama, August 25, 2022
