ALLEGATIONS involving individuals in positions of power should be met with heightened scrutiny and transparency, said former MCA vice-president Datuk Seri Ti Lian Ker.
In a Facebook post, Ti said that immediate and categorical denials by authorities may be perceived as bias or as conclusions reached without due investigation.
“There must be an independent investigation into serious claims, alongside measures such as temporary stepping aside by the accused, depending on the severity of the allegations.
“The public must be updated consistently to ensure transparency throughout the investigative process,” he said.
Speaking further, the former deputy minister warned that responses focused on dismissing allegations as “fitnah,” issuing threats of legal action, or discrediting accusers risk creating a perception of defensiveness or suppression.
This, he added, may give the impression that the matter is being prejudged without a full examination of the facts.
Ti was responding to Fuziah Salleh - PKR’s secretary general, who said last night that the party will not hesitate to take action against those spreading slander or accusations against its leadership without any basis.
This comes after a businessman, Victor Chin, also known as Chin Boon Loong, produced a 40-page document, which includes claims that a PKR MP asked for RM10 million to ‘resolve’ an issue, though he only managed to provide RM9.5 million initially.
Chin alleged the final RM500,00 was withheld because the promised resolution never materialised.
“When public office and public trust are involved, a denial alone is not enough,” Ti explained. – March 26, 2026
