A FOREIGN management institute has denied claims in a recent Vibes article, “Court Orders Police to Probe Foreign Management Institute”, which reported instructions issued by the Kajang Magistrate’s Court on July 3, 2026, for the police to investigate alleged reports of perjury made against senior managers in the organisation.
In a statement on social media, they said, “The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) unequivocally rejects the false, baseless and defamatory allegations being levelled against members of our senior leadership team, our staff and our volunteer board members.
The Malaysian courts have made no finding that any criminal offence has been committed, nor have they determined the truth of the allegation.”
The statement further said, “The Court did not order the arrest or prosecution of any individual, and any investigative steps, if any, remain entirely a matter for the relevant Malaysian authorities in accordance with the ordinary legal process.”
Describing the characterisation of the Court's decision by The Vibes columnist, Murray Hunter, “as inaccurate and misleading,” the CMI said that they had already refuted earlier claims as “baseless, inaccurate and defamatory statements,” which they said are currently the subject of legal proceedings.
Separately, today (August 6), the new lawyers for the CMI, Datuk Selva Mookiah, informed the High Court that they had issued a Notice of Discontinuance to end a defamation action commenced by CMI against Murray Hunter in relation to earlier articles he had written about the organisation. – August 6, 2026
