KUALA LUMPUR – After stealing the limelight over two days of competition, winning two gold medals in track events, Johor para athlete Ahmad Fizzi Rosni has set his sights firmly on a third personal gold medal at the 2022 Malaysian Para Games (Para Sukma) held at the National Sports Council Mini Stadium in Bukit Jalil.

The 22-year-old athlete is highly motivated to continue his excellent momentum when he moves into action in the T35/T36 Men’s 200m event tomorrow, after having won the 100m and 400m competitions in the same class earlier.

Fizzi who hails from Tampoi, Johor said the second gold he won today through the Men’s T35/T36 400m event gave him the confidence to clinch the third gold even though he knows that he would be facing stiff competition from his opponents.

“I am very grateful to win another gold, thanks for the support from all parties, especially family, coaches and teachers.”

“God willing, I really want the third gold, but it is a tall order because there are many good runners and old timers, I will try my best,” he said when met by reporters here, today.

In today’s 400m final, he won the gold with a record of 60.46s while Kedah athlete Mohamad Sobri Ghazali was in second place (66.66s), and Sabah representative Nelson Sevilin was third with a time of 68.24s.

In the T35/T36 Men’s 100m event which took place yesterday, Fizzi recorded a time of 13.15s to claim his first Para Sukma gold after having won just two silver and one bronze in the 2018 edition in Perak.

Fizzi is touted as a replacement for national athletics champion Mohamad Ridzuan Mohamad Puzi or better known as Dik Wan because of his potential. – Bernama, November 4, 2022
