KUALA LUMPUR – Singapore Sepaktakraw Federation (Perses) president Mohd Nasri Haron has been sanctioned for 10 years beginning November 30 by the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (Astaf).

Astaf Disciplinary Committee chairman Yogender Singh Dahiya said Nasri also needs to reimburse the Asian governing body US$15,000 (RM65,800) for the hearing costs. An additional two-year ban may be applicable if Nasri fails to pay the amount.

Yogender said Nasri had been charged with five charges related to a letter he wrote in the capacity of Astaf vice-president and Perses president copied to the Olympic Council of Asia and the International Olympics Committee.

For each of the charges, he was banned two years from local and international sepak takraw.

“All the above sanctions will run consecutively for a total of 10 years and shall take immediate effect from November 30, 2022.

“As the defendant, any appeal(s) by Nasri must be lodged to the Astaf president within 21 days upon receipt of Astaf disciplinary committee’s decision and be accompanied by an appeal fee of US$2,000,” he said in a statement, today.

Yogender said the decisions were made during the disciplinary hearing on November 26 comprising panel members from India, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Iran, Indonesia and Malaysia. – Bernama, December 3, 2022
