KUALA LUMPUR – A delegation from Australia’s football association today visited Wisma FAM (the Football Association of Malaysia) to promote next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

The delegation, led by Football Australia’s strategic projects and international partnerships general manager Kieran Lilley, was welcomed by FAM president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin before they attended a briefing by FAM’s technical department.

“The visit also allowed FAM to discuss collaboration opportunities with Football Australia,” Hamidin posted on Facebook.

The others in the delegation were Football Australia’s international partnerships coordinator Thomas Engelhardt, former Australian women’s footballer Servet Uzunlar, former Australian women’s junior player Emma Ilijoski, and the Australian high commission’s public diplomacy manager Jason Moynihan.

Meanwhile, FAM technical director Scott O’Donell, FAM women’s football unit head Soleen Al-Zoubi, who also coaches the Malayan Tigress, and FAM grassroots unit head Cameron Ng were among those who gave a presentation on women’s and grassroots football in Malaysia during the briefing. – Bernama, May 30, 2023
