ALL ministers and senior government officials have been instructed to seriously monitor the condition of villages across the country to further enhance the well-being of villagers.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said Ministers and government officials must be aware of what is happening on the ground which is important to ensure the well-being of the people and the development of villages and rural areas.
“The government has its machinery, but sometimes the messages are not delivered.
"That’s why through this Kampung Angkat Madani programme, all ministers, including the PM, ministry secretary-general, chief secretary, as well as senior government officials must adopt a village, either their own or any other," he said when launching the launch of national-level Kampung Angkat Madani 2024 programme at Kampung Chengal Lempong, Balok, in Kuantan today.
"To measure our success, we must go to the ground to obtain information and resolve the issues," he added.
Also present was Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali and Pahang State Secretary Datuk Seri Zulkifli Yaacob.
Anwar also said the Madani village adoption programme, announced during the tabling of Budget 2024, will help Putrajaya assess the effectiveness of government policies.
He said that sometimes, the policies announced by the government are not fully understood by the people, but that problem can be resolved if leaders and senior government officers go down to the grassroots to provide explanations.
