THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with the International Anti-Corruption Academy (IACA), marking a significant step toward enhancing international cooperation in the fight against corruption.
The agreement, inked yesterday in Austria, was formalised by MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki and IACA Deacon Professor Slagjana Taseva.
Azam said the collaboration would open new pathways in capacity building and shared expertise, enabling Malaysian and regional enforcement officers to benefit from IACA’s global network and academic resources.
“With global technological advancements comes a new era of transnational corruption, complex financial crime, and sophisticated digital threats,” he said.
“With such complex developments, no agency or country can stand on its own.”
Also present at the signing were IACA advisor Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed, MACC Malaysian Anti-Corruption Academy senior director Datuk Mohd Hafaz Nazar, and MACC Policy, Planning and Research Division director Rasidah Abdul Karim.
The LOI is expected to serve as a platform for developing joint initiatives in anti-corruption training, research, and policy dialogue, particularly in areas involving digital governance and transnational financial crime. - July 11, 2025
