SIBU – The Health Department will open a Covid-19 screening centre at the indoor stadium here tomorrow, as the Lanang and Sibu Jaya clinics have been congested since yesterday.

Division health officer Dr Teh Jo Hun said the centre at the stadium will operate from 9am to 6pm daily.

“The opening of this centre is also to avoid a more serious congestion at the Lanang and Sibu Jaya clinics,” he told Bernama today.

The crowded conditions at the clinics are worrying as social-distancing rules are not observed despite repeated reminders, he said.

“We need a bigger space. All close contacts of patients linked to the funeral ceremony at the Langi longhouse in Pasai Siong Tengah who feel that they are at risk… are requested to go to the centre at the stadium for testing.

“Up till yesterday, about 500 people linked to the funeral ceremony at the end of last month have undergone screening.

“The results are expected to be known in three to four days.” – Bernama, January 11, 2021
