A MANGA novel has forecasted that a significant earthquake will strike Japan today, July 5.
The 2021 reissue of 'The Future I Saw' by Ryo Tatsuki, a retired manga artist also referred to as the "New Baba Vanga", cautions that a "massive" tsunami will inundate nations in the Pacific Ocean.
This forecast has incited widespread alarm and raised concerns among some superstitious tourists regarding their travel plans to Japan.
According to reports, last month, Tatsuki attempted to mitigate the speculation, stating in a release from her publisher that she is "not a prophet" and that the mega-earthquake may not occur.
However, she did not completely retract her statement, according to Time Magazine.
Seismologists maintain that predicting earthquakes is scientifically unfeasible.
Nevertheless, fans trust Tatsuki because she seemingly foresaw the catastrophic Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in 2011, which resulted in nearly 20,000 fatalities and led to the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant disaster.
Tatsuki, referred to as Japan's "Baba Vanga", gained recognition after she appeared to have predicted the 9.0-magnitude earthquake that hit Japan's northern Tohoku region in 2011.
According to the South China Morning Post, the cover of the manga featured the phrase "massive disaster in March 2011", prompting some to think that she had foreseen the occurrence more than ten years in advance.
Additionally, fans assert that Tatsuki anticipated the untimely deaths of Princess Diana and musician Freddie Mercury, along with the COVID-19 pandemic. – July 5, 2025
