A MODERATE earthquake measuring magnitude 5.0 struck Mindanao, Philippines today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) reported.
The tremor occurred at 12:02 pm local time, with its epicentre located approximately 60 kilometres east of Bislig at a depth of 10 kilometres.
“Preliminary assessments indicate that there is no tsunami threat to Malaysia,” MetMalaysia stated.
The department noted that several earthquakes have recently been recorded in various areas of the Philippines, including regions near Tagum City and the southern part of the country, highlighting the seismic activity in the area.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation and advise the public to stay alert to any updates regarding aftershocks or related seismic events. - December 19, 2025
