A NEWLY released trove of Justice Department documents has exposed the extensive web of high-profile figures who maintained ties to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein, sparking renewed scrutiny of the social circles surrounding one of the most notorious sexual offenders in recent history.
AP reported on Monday that the files, which detail emails, photographs, and correspondence spanning years, include references to tech moguls, Wall Street executives, foreign dignitaries, and political leaders.
None of the individuals have been charged in connection with Epstein’s crimes, which he committed against girls and young women before taking his own life in a Manhattan jail cell in 2019.
Among the notable names cited in the documents is Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly Britain’s Prince Andrew, whose correspondence with Epstein appears hundreds of times.
Epstein invited him to Buckingham Palace, offered introductions to young women, and exchanged photographs depicting Mountbatten-Windsor with unidentified women.
The former prince has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing, though his brother, King Charles III, stripped him of his royal titles last year.
Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, also appears in the files. Despite a public apology in 2011 for accepting Epstein’s financial help, Ferguson later sought his advice for a television appearance.
She wrote to him: “I just want to make sure you are aware of this and seek your advice on how you would like me to answer.” Epstein replied, defending himself against tabloid portrayals.
Prominent business figures, including Elon Musk and Richard Branson, are mentioned in email exchanges with Epstein. Musk has stated he “refused” invitations to Epstein’s private island, while Branson’s interactions were largely limited to business or group events.
Branson’s team later ceased contact after discovering serious allegations against Epstein, emphasising: “Had they had the full picture and information, there would have been no contact whatsoever.”
The documents also reference former US presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump, each of whom were claimed to have social or professional interactions with Epstein.
Clinton reportedly broke off relations following criminal charges in 2006, while Trump’s past friendship with Epstein is documented in correspondence, call logs, and media commentary.
Other figures include billionaire investors Sergey Brin and Howard Lutnick, film director Brett Ratner, media adviser Steve Bannon, and former Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak.
While the materials reveal continued social or business contact with Epstein, none of these individuals have been accused of involvement in his sexual abuse network.
Several public officials, including Slovakian national security adviser Miroslav Lajcak, resigned after their communications with Epstein surfaced, though they denied any wrongdoing.
The release underscores the breadth of Epstein’s connections and the continuing public fascination with his social network, even years after his death.
