UNITED States President Donald Trump has declared that a comprehensive ceasefire across the Middle East is now within reach following a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, signalling what he described as a decisive step towards ending one of the region's most destabilising conflicts.
In a message posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump said Washington remained fully committed to the peace process and called on all parties in the Middle East to honour their commitments to ensure negotiations continue without disruption.
“The United States is committed to peace, and we encourage all parties in the Middle East to uphold their commitments so that these negotiations can proceed successfully,” Aljazeera reported him saying.
Trump also claimed that the diplomatic breakthrough had already generated a positive response in global financial markets, with oil prices continuing to fall while equity markets advanced as investors welcomed the prospect of reduced geopolitical risks.
According to the US President, market confidence has strengthened on expectations that the peace negotiations between Washington and Tehran will lessen regional instability and reduce the likelihood of disruptions to global energy supplies.
The agreement between the United States and Iran is being viewed as a significant milestone in efforts to de-escalate tensions across the Middle East, where years of conflict have fuelled geopolitical uncertainty and raised persistent concerns over the global economy and energy security. - June 19, 2026
