JORDAN’S military said its air defence systems successfully intercepted eight missiles that entered the country’s airspace, destroying them before they could threaten civilians or property.
The Jordanian military said all eight missiles were neutralised before causing any danger to the public or infrastructure.
The development came shortly after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had launched ballistic missile strikes against US military targets in Jordan.
AFP reported that the alleged targets included King Hussein Air Base and Al-Azraq.
The strikes were believed to be retaliation for US attacks on targets on Iran’s Larak Island in the Strait of Hormuz. - August 31, 2026
