6.5-magnitude quake hits Tajikistan, border of Xinjiang region
According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department, the 6.5-magnitude earthquake with a depth of 49km occurred 363km northeast of Taloqan, Afghanistan at 8.37am today. – snexplores pic, February 23, 2023

KUALA LUMPUR – A strong earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale hit Tajikistan and near the border of China’s Xinjiang region at 8.37am today.

According to the Malaysian Meteorological Department in a statement, the earthquake with a depth of 49km occurred 363km northeast of Taloqan, Afghanistan.

However, the earthquake did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia. – Bernama, February 23, 2023
