PATTANI – An assistant village chief was killed when two men fired more than 20 shots at him here.

Pattani regional police chief Archan Chansiri said the 50-year-old victim was shot dead in front of his wife at about 6.30am, local time, on Wednesday.

He said the victim, who worked part-time as a security guard at a company, had just completed his work.

“Two men who were hiding on the side of the road fired at the victim.

“The victim was shot from close range,” he said at a media briefing.

The victim’s gun was also taken by the suspects.

Archan said police are intensifying their efforts to track down the suspects, including examining the closed-circuit television system at the scene. – Bernama, March 31, 2023
